FI&R 06-G01 Project Details

Completed in October 2012, the Facilities Renovations & New Classrooms Project (FI&R 06-G01 / E06-01), constucted numerous repair, renovation and new building projects at Sequoyah Schools in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The initial project constructed a new Technology Classroom Building, renovated and expanded the existing library & media classrooms and completed several safety & accessibility related projects.

During construction of the initial roudn of projects, surplus grant funding allowed for an additional serires of supplemental safety, building renovation, demolition and sports facilities improvements projects.

Project funded by the Buearu of Indian Affairs - Office of Facilities Management & Construction.


Project Details - New Classroom Building

The New Classroom Building project constructed a new stand alone 4,748 SF structure (Building 117) with 3 new classrooms for technology classes at Sequoyah Schools. Further, the building can be expanded to accomodate an additional four classrooms as school enrollment increases.

The building's design makes use of clerestory windows in the main corridor for natural lighting, adaptive lighting controls, a high efficiency HVAC system and ultra-low flow plumbing fixtures for enhanced energy and environmental performance. The new structure also includes an office for the technology education program director, staff and faculty restrooms, server & communications room and storage space for each classroom.

Project Details - Library Renovation

The Library Renovation Project at Sequoyah Schools (Building 100) created a new 4,743 SF library with new librarian's office, work room and storage space by removing interior partitions and reconfiguring the spaces with new interior partitions, new interior finishes and new HVAC, fire alarm & fire suppression systems. The renovation also included the installation of two large skylights, a glass block light wall & aluminum storefront windows to introduce natural light into the new space for increased energy efficiency and to enhance the functionality of the new library.

Other spaces created were a new 883 SF media classroom, new conference room, and other spaces to comply with current building and life safety codes, and renovated the existing media production room.

Project Details - Sports Lighting Improvements

Added as a supplemental FI&R Project, the sports lighting improvements project replaced aged, energy inefficient and partially inoperative lighting systems at the Sequoyah Schools Athletic Fields.

The new lighting systems at the Football, Baseball & Track stadiums and associated electrical improvements provided all new underground conductors, all new light poles & energy efficient light fixtures and new transformers, switchgear and controls. The system's control system monitors usage and fixture life and will notify the manufacturer of fixtures that need replacement under warranty.

Project Details - Building 13 Improvements

Added as a supplemental FI&R project, the Building 13 Improvements project corrected several health, safety and enviromental issues in the building that serves as the laboratory for the Sequoyah Schools Robotic Program.

The project entailed the removal of all existing ceilings, flooring and interior partitions, followed by the installation of all new ceilings, new flooring finishes, new lighting fixtures and interior partitions. Futher, the project also replaced the building electrical system to better serve the robotics program's needs and provided new toilet fixtures and reconfigured the restoom to comply with ADAABAAG accessibility requirements.

Project Details - Building 12

The Building 12 Demolition & Site Improvements project demolished and removed an existing two story dilapidated and structure at the Sequoyah Schools campus in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The project also removed the associated asphalt parking lot, installed new storm sewer pipe & structures and regraded & sodded the cleared site to drain.
